Kidnap & Ransom

Around the world individuals and employees of global organizations and other businesses, must now concern themselves with the realistic possibility that themselves or their family members could become the target of criminal organizations operating strictly for profit.

From terrorist groups with radical "political" agendas, to disgruntled employees seeking to redress grievances, corporate executives and employees of multi national companies are increasingly being subjected to kidnap and ransom.

Counter Terrorism International’s consultants have considerable experience in dealing with kidnap, ransom and extortion cases, particularly within Far East Asia. Our advisors ensure that the client is guided through every stage of the negotiation process through to resolution.

Counter Terrorism International‘s advisors will ensure that the client are able to evaluate the information presented throughout the crisis and assist the client in making sound decisions under difficult circumstances.

Counter Terrorism International can facilitate and initiate crisis management in the event that an employee or family member is the subject of a kidnap for ransom. In such a crisis, Counter Terrorism International can:

Advise on effective negotiation strategies: coherent negotiating strategies are essential if the kidnap is to be successfully resolved. Our consultants have extensive experience of advising on the most appropriate response to kidnappers’ threats, demands and tactics.

Advise on the management of the agendas of all interested parties: In any kidnap, there are many different and often competing groups with an interest: the victim, family and friends, employers, the media, governments, and law enforcement agencies.

Our consultant provides the client with sound objective advice on how to manage the various interests within legal constraints, in a manner which supports the client’s aim – the safe, secure and timely release of the victim. We help to bring order and a decision making structure to what is frequently a stressful and emotionally–charged situation.

Provide support for the victim’s family throughout the course of a kidnap and to advise on the rehabilitation of the victim after release: Hostages often experience anger, guilt or shame after coming home. Consultants can prepare the victim, the family and colleagues by highlighting likely emotional reactions to captivity and release, helping all to recover from their ordeal, both emotionally and physically. In a minority of cases, professional psychiatric care is required. Clients have access to psychiatrists and psychologists retained by Counter Terrorism International, with experience specific to the care of former hostages.
